All dial lamps are working. Employs dual conversion on all bands I haven't heard any ghost signals yet. This is evidenced by the over all good cosmetic appearance.
Use your sx 96 as a mono tuber play your mp3 or iPod through it. It also varies the pitch of cw Morse code to your liking. And how '50s is that enclosure cabinet.
The pitch control allows you to fine tune the voices till they sound natural. And it's still all original. Has come apart but it's not torn and is complete. My final assessment this sx 96 performs like a champ.
There's just the normal wear typically found with 60 year old radios. I've operated the unit for many consecutive hours. All controls and the toggle switches were sprayed.
It was just used and enjoyed a lot. Setting the main dial to these dots automatically aligns the band spread dial to the main. Another useful convenient feature. Am broadcast and shortwave music has that warm bass tube sound.
This boat anchor has been put through its full paces. The main dial has index dots that indicate where the amateur band segments are. Power cord has minor frays as shown. There's a phono input.
It is spot on zero beat. This and the seal and the original Hallicrafters tubes are a good indication the radio has never been tampered with.
Notice the undisturbed factory seal. Includes original manual. The pitch control operates a tuning slug inside the bf. It's very dependable and fun to use.
Both dials work smoothly. I cleaned out a quarter inch of dust and spider webs. Free USA shipping. The original Hallicrafters r 46b speaker is a full 10 and in perfect working condition, with no tears or distortion.
And yes the main tuning and band spread flywheel tuning spin nicely. And you can rotate the bulbs inside to vary how brightly the dials are lit fully functioning. The bf works great, adding great selectivity in receiving the single side band ham amateur bands.
