When john Thorpe designed the hf 150 receiver, it was unveiled to the shortwave community with wonderful reviews. Please observe our HD pictures and use the magnifier for specifics. It is not perfect, but it is in great condition overall.

Finally, the speaker installed in the hf 150 offers above average audio, but is top facing and this can affect your ability to hear transmission detail.

The receiver is an exceptional piece of design, but due to the modest size, the receiver made some sacrifices. The small wire connects to the black ground spring terminal on the back of the hf 150 see last picture.

This sale is for the scarce optional Lowe sp 150 also referred to as AP 150 external speaker, notch, and meter unit designed to compliment the hf 150 communications receiver. The specific controls on this sp 150 are power on off high pass filter on of flow pass filter adjust notch filter on off notch filter adjust signal meter adjust there are also connections for both headphones and speaker outputs. Cosmetically, the unit is in good cosmetic condition.

This resistor was added to later hf 150s and our personal receiver was not one that required this change, but the manual details this minor customization should your receiver require it. Included with the sp 150 are a copy of the user manual, an audio patch cord to connect to the hf 150, a couple of copies of promotional pieces for this unit, and a CD containing the manual and promotional files. This simplifies operation as the adapter should have plenty of output for both the sp 150 and the hf 150.

The sp 150 corrects all these shortcomings in one tidy box with an amplified 10 watt front facing speaker, notch filter, low pass and high pass filters, and meter.

You plug the adapter into this sp 150 and then use the included dc jumper to power the receiver. This unit has been connected and tested with our personal hf 150 that also has one of these sp 150 units installed so we could properly verify the operation. One of these was the absence of ammeter to reflect signal strength.
