The db setting is very stable. Kenwood r 2000 hf 100 khz 30 mhz am fm ssb cw base communications receiver used about 30 years old it works OK. A trick I use is to insert 10 db of padding this will cut down on inter modulation products. All other functions are fine.

It can run on 110 v ac as is, or 12 v dc, with an user supplied external power supply or battery. The db attenuation pad function is slightly noisy just wiggle the knob if the pad is not stable.
