( Brand: Hf ), ( Part Type: Amplifier ), ( Supported Modes: Am )
The 3-500z 80m Amplifier 10m HF Linear Single is a powerful and efficient radio frequency (RF) amplifier designed specifically for the 80m and 10m HF (High Frequency) bands. This amplifier boasts an impressive power output of up to 500 watts PEP (Peak Envelope Power), making it an excellent choice for serious ham radio operators and enthusiasts.
The 3-500z is a linear amplifier, which means it delivers a consistent output power level, regardless of the input signal level. This is in contrast to class D or class E amplifiers, which can experience power compression at high input levels. The linear design of the 3-500z ensures that you always get the full 500 watts, even when pushing the amplifier hard.
The amplifier features a robust aluminum chassis, which not only looks great but also provides excellent heat dissipation. This is crucial for high-power amplifiers, as they can generate a lot of heat. The 3-500z has a built-in cooling fan to keep temperatures in check, ensuring long-term reliability and durability.
The 3-500z 80m Amplifier 10m HF Linear Single is also easy to use. It features a front-panel VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio) meter, which helps you ensure that your antenna system is matched properly, reducing power loss and potential damage to the amplifier. The amplifier also has a front-panel power switch and a remote control interface, allowing you to turn the amplifier on and off from a distance.
The 3-500z is designed to work with a wide range of transceivers, including popular models from Icom, Kenwood, Yaesu, and more. It has a built-in automatic power control (APC) feature, which helps protect your transceiver from overdrive by adjusting the output power level based on the input signal level.
In summary, the 3-500z 80m Amplifier 10m HF Linear Single is a high-power, high-performance amplifier that is perfect for serious ham radio operators. Its linear design ensures consistent output power, while its robust construction and built-in cooling system ensure long-term reliability. Its easy-to-use front-panel controls and automatic power control feature make it a great choice for both experienced operators and those just starting out.

Recommendation:If you are a serious amateur radio operator with the budget and technical knowledge, the 3-500z 80m Amplifier 10m HF Linear Single is a great investment. However, if you are a beginner or have a limited budget, you may want to consider other options that are more affordable and easier to set up, such as solid-state amplifiers or tube amplifiers with lower power output. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your specific needs and circumstances.
It's presently wired for 120vac. And note the results on. Because I haven't tested it I have listed it as for parts or not working.
Fair enough caution this should only be purchased by someone familiar with high voltage circuits and who understands tube type power amplifiers.
Thews made by a ham that was a radio engineer and it shows. I have the schematics for Thant power supply plus all the engineering calculations for the tuning coils and tank components. If the does not sell at the bin price i'll hook up my new ten etc eagle Hf rig when it gets here and test the power output.
The RF deck is meant to sit on the desk and is 15w x 7h x 10d. I have not tested this i'm between rigs right now but I knew the owner builder now SK and the last time I was in his shack this was working perfectly components are very heavy duty and high quality.
Well planned out and well made.
Up for offer is a very nicely made Hf linear amplifier covering meters. See photo's the value of then the parts alone is well worth the price. Comes in two cabinets.
Offer includes the cables between the power supply and the RF deck.
