The Kenwood TS-450SAT is a popular HF/VHF/UHF transceiver known for its high-performance and versatility. Let's examine its pros and cons to help you make an informed decision:

Pros:

1. Versatility: The TS-450SAT supports HF, VHF, and UHF bands, making it a suitable choice for various amateur radio activities, such as DXing, contesting, and local communications.

2. High Power Output: With a maximum power output of 100 watts, the TS-450SAT can effectively reach distant stations or repeaters.

3. Excellent Receiver: The receiver offers a wide frequency range, excellent selectivity, and high sensitivity, which are crucial for DXing and weak signal work.

4. Built-in Antenna Tuner: The built-in antenna tuner can match a wide range of antennas, including dipoles, verticals, and yagis.

5. Compact Size: Despite its high-performance capabilities, the TS-450SAT is relatively compact, making it a suitable choice for portable operation or space-constrained shacks.

6. Digital Mode Support: The TS-450SAT supports various digital modes, such as RTTY, PSK31, and FT8, allowing you to communicate with other amateur radio operators using digital techniques.

Cons:

1. Price: The TS-450SAT is a premium transceiver, which may be considered expensive compared to some other HF/VHF/UHF transceivers on the market.

2. Complexity: The TS-450SAT has a lot of features and settings, which may be intimidating for beginners. However, it also offers a lot of customization options for advanced users.

3. Weight: Despite being relatively compact, the TS-450SAT is not exceptionally lightweight, which may be a disadvantage for portable operation.

On the other hand, if you are a beginner or have a limited budget, you may want to consider other transceivers with fewer features at a lower price point.

Details:

It been in a lightly smoked home since I bought and got back. I have owned over 25 450sats since 2013 and I'm down to 3 that all small issues. This ones a 10. Checked everything.

Full 100 watt output on all bands. Power cords and mics. Got it and came on looked brand new. Caps boards and such.

But since my wife smokes. IL never get what I put into this one. But I'm raising money for other things. All those can be had for under 50 bucks on.

Was the cleanest 459sat I have ever seen. Clearest display I have ever seen. I sent it to Jake electronics and he replaced whatever parts needed.

Had no Rx or tx any sound whatsoever. Have sold 15 of these in last year included all manuals. Bought from a silent key widow. However absolutely no viable evidence of it.

From a non smoking hams home and stored. Buttons looked and felt untouched. No manuals or cords stock mics left.

IL add some more close up pics later today. A fresh alignment. The pic on here now is a older one.
