The Ten-Tec Omni 100W HF Transceiver is an exceptional piece of radio communications equipment designed for amateur radio operators. This powerful transceiver boasts a 100-watt output, making it an ideal choice for both local and long-distance communication.
The Omni features an impressive array of filters, including the QSK (Quick Switching Keying) filters. These filters allow for rapid switching between frequencies, reducing the delay often associated with keying. This results in smoother, more fluent QSOs (QUALITY COMMUNICATIONS STATIONS), improving your overall operating experience.
In addition to its powerful output and quick-switching filters, the Omni also includes a built-in preamplifier. This preamp boosts the signal strength of weak stations, ensuring that you never miss a contact. It also improves the overall clarity of the incoming signal, making it easier to understand even in noisy environments.
The Ten-Tec Omni 100W HF Transceiver is housed in a sturdy, compact metal chassis. The controls are well-placed and intuitive, making it easy to operate, even in the heat of a QSO. The transceiver also features a high-resolution LCD display, providing clear, easy-to-read information about frequency, mode, and other important parameters.
In conclusion, the Ten-Tec Omni 100W HF Transceiver is a versatile, powerful, and user-friendly piece of radio equipment. Its quick-switching filters, built-in preamp, and robust construction make it an excellent choice for both novice and experienced amateur radio operators. Whether you're a DXer (distance communications), contester, or simply enjoy chatting with fellow hams, the Omni 100W has got you covered.
Pros of buying a Ten-Tec Omni 100W HF Transceiver:1. Powerful Output: With a 100W output, this transceiver is ideal for long-distance communication.
2. QSK (Quick Switching Keying) Filters: These filters allow for faster and smoother switching between transmit and receive modes, improving operating efficiency.
3. Preamp: The built-in preamp helps to improve signal strength and reduce noise, making it easier to hear weaker signals.
Cons of buying a Ten-Tec Omni 100W HF Transceiver:1. Price: The Ten-Tec Omni is a high-end transceiver and its price may be prohibitive for some hobbyists.
2. Weight and Size: At 16 lbs and 13.5" x 12" x 5", the Omni is heavier and larger than some other transceivers, which may make it less portable.
3. Complexity: The Omni has many features and controls, which may be overwhelming for beginners.
Ending Conclusion:The Ten-Tec Omni 100W HF Transceiver is a high-performance transceiver with powerful output, QSK filters, and a preamp. However, its high price, weight, and complexity may make it less appealing to some hobbyists. If you're a serious amateur radio operator with the budget and need for its advanced features, the Omni may be a great investment. But if you're just starting out, you may want to consider a more affordable and user-friendly option.
Recommendation:If you're looking for a high-performance HF transceiver with a preamp and QSK filters, the Ten-Tec Omni 100W is a great choice. However, if you're a beginner or have a limited budget, you might want to consider the Yaesu FT-891 or the Icom IC-7300, both of which offer similar features at a more affordable price.
Filters are included though I don't know the specific model of each filter. One note: the band-switch knob does work but appears to need adjustment as set-screw not fully hold in place. Radio puts out solid power and the qsk feature is every bit as great people say. Also included: Amoco pt-2 preamp desk mic hand which I think is the better sounding of 2.
8khz ssb filter is glorious in crowded band conditions. I'll do my best to pack it well but if the knob should fall off during shipping, its in box somewhere. I'm selling it now due to inheritance of a far more feature-packed radio.
Radio will come with power wiring but not supply for 13. This working unit was my first hf rig and served me well for many years. Excellent condition Tented omni transceiver.
