That being said I find the Jps NIR-10 easy to use and effective would buy it again. Ve3xdb rating: 4/5 jun 12, 2003 very nice unit time owned: more than 12 months have been using an NIR-10 several times per week for the last 2-3 years. The unit can be manually bypassed by flipping mode switch all way down to bypass. I bought one on a whim, the second - to use different radio hunted down.
Does a credible job on SW broadcasts, although it seems too narrow for most voice modes see con. 5 msrp: 299. I have used this a little bit with Sb and it seems to do nice job at noise reduction using nir or peak settings again. Pros - does an especially good job on cw, which is my primary mode.
Good results then. Wm9i rating: 5 Nov 11, 2012 very good DPs for the price. Read the directions. Great for older hf radios with no if DPs.
I haven't really used this filter in band pass mode due to the scarf filter, but it seems have nice sharp skirts - unfortunately, when you use mode, both peak and nir are not accessible, so recommend either go with nir-12 for its dual DPs, or an outboard band pass like am using. These are certainly cheap enough to make trying one worth while. The unit is well made, and does a nice job of overall noise reduction on my ken wood ts-440s at. Decided to try a NIR-10 that I spotted on famous offer site and what difference it has made.
6 and 1 khz, vertical-skirted filters, greater than 60 db ultimate rejection. The budget here was short of bucks for a new if DPs rig, so now my trusty ICC-751a is back on bands. Ac hum is introduced in the audio by cheap adapter. There is also a jack for 12 CDC input, 2.
Ham dude rating: 5 Feb 21, 2009 good tool if used properly time owned: to 3 months bought this on a whim at the Orlando ham cation due fight local power company for almost year, will try anything. The peak mode is fantastic for cleaning up Sb noise, and cw, there no delay in that. Remote bypass connector on the Jps. Includes dc power cord, and copy of the manual.
Made in the USA. N0va rating: 4/5 Nov 13, 2004 nice but bypass could be better IE owned: to 3 months purchased a clean, used unit with the updated rev. I work only cw so my rating applies to a1a and not voice modes. Page 1 of ae6rq rating: 5 Oct 10, 2004 especially good for cw time owned: to 3 months recently purchased the NIR-10 with latest firmware peak mode which is about 20 more than you can find this unit on.
The notch filter mode removes multiple heterodox and acts in 3 milliseconds. Software installed on for shipping and believe that was a good deal. Operates on radio receiver audio outputs then provides its own volume-adjustable processed to an external 3/8 ohm speaker not supplied.
The Jps NIR-10 SQL version is same as above but features band width s of That means lots of atmospheric noise. I am looking to get another for my ft-990.
With my kit-built RP rig the only way I could think to do this was split direct output from memory keyed and run a patch cord Inc. This unit had the latest rev 4. Want something better.
I think its interesting that some people rate it so low - perhaps they should read the instructions. Won't say simple there are simpler DPs units out but works great if you take time to learn use. It took careful reading of the instructions and about an hour playing with before I felt happy. All I have for a rig is an Haw-101, and vertical in the middle of city Dayton. All in all, this unit has served me well, and is performing as I would have expected it to perform.
After reading the manual and experimenting for a few hour's, found this very useful tool in my noise battle.
Never had a problem, but if one breaks i'll buy another. But, they make manuals for a reason, use it. This method may work better on other transceivers. Another great feature is the bypass switching, which I activate with an extra set of relay contacts.
Combination of switches is used to select desired filtering. For 95 this is still a compelling choice and good value your non-DPs rig mine an older icon 751a without DPs. The cw filter works nicely too, 250 Hz, and 600 Hz.
73 ve2jl rating: 5 may 1, 2009 couldn't operate with out it. The rear panel has rca phono jacks for: audio input, speaker output, remote bypass, Inc rem bypass. Time owned: to 3 months living in the of a large city and ham radio can be difficult.
I won't say that the resultant signal is stripped fully of all noise so it pure and clean, but its readability does go up significantly. Band pass mode has continuously adjustable frequency, delectable band width s. I rated the Jps NIR-10 good not great but it is way ahead of original kit-built DPs-1 that tried out.
I don't use it for voice, and would not recommend the unit if your primary be Sb or am SW broadcasts. Local noise made the situation almost impossible, I even considered talking to XL about moving back burbs.
Kb4sog rating: 5 Aug 12, 2014 first one was so good I bought another time owned: more than 12 months great little unit, out performs many costing much. But, I am not a frequent voice operator so haven't really exercised it lot. DPs howl sometimes hard to take when using the narrow filters. There is also a jack for 12 CDC input not really intuitive, although I am getting used to it.
7 x 2 inches. Its only a 40 MHz processor, hence the terrible time delay. The rear panel has rca phono jacks for: audio input, speaker output, remote bypass, Inc rem bypass Jps NIR-10 filter allows reception of difficult to read signals and reduces listener fatigue.
7 x 2 inches for 75 purchasing this is a no brainier. Time owned: to 3 months bought this recently for my grandsons Sb-1400 and it is working great. Or one can connect a keying signal line from the transceiver to an rca connector on back of Jps unit. None-the-less, I am very pleased with this unit.
Impossible to beat for the price. I find that 80 of negative reviews are from plug and play mentality. The front panel features a 1/4 inch headphone jack.
I am impressed with the nir function and auto carrier reduction. The notch filter mode removes multiple heterodox and acts in 3 milliseconds. Raota1365 rating: 5 Jan 14, 2003 a great unit time owned: to 3 months this is my latest toy,a and easy operate, kills the noise treat in this noisy location. And it has made my operating almost enjoyable again.
Reading all the complaints on it this is caused by manufacturer not using an AFC or ABC in circuitry to smooth things out. N3uui rating: 5 jun 13, 2005 piece of junk time owned: to 3 months this thing has a very poor audio DPs algorithm and pops clips. Much to their credit Jps rayon maintains a PDF copy of the updated manual for this unit on-line. When I combine this filter with my Be delectable scarf filter, have a great combination.
Even though the control panel looks simple compared to an mfg 784 it really helps have updated manual at ready while in learning curve. The resulting monitored cw signal was usable but of rather poor quality popping. I know it will not get my signal out any better but now can at least hear anybody calling.
Unit is in great shape and works well. It works especially well on cw signals in peak mode to separate background noise from the desired signal. That along with the poor filtering of processed signal, you can hear howl from processing.
The front panel features a 1/4 inch headphone jack. Cons - don't lose the manual. Page 1 of kd8sav rating: 5 Aug 30, 2014 great little filter time owned: to 3 months found one these for 40 at the Dayton ham fest, and love it. For example, with a cw signal that is few db above the noise, this filter will gate and significant bit of noise together is, resultant passed audio not pure sine wave tone, but it definitely tone can be read easily.
Would recommend to anyone.
