( Brand: Icom ), ( Manufacturer Part Number: IC-703 ), ( Part Type: Tuner Filter )
The Icom IC-703 is an impressive all-mode HF transceiver, featuring an integrated auto-tuner for effortless antenna tuning. This 10W powerhouse is equipped with advanced digital signal processing (DSP) technology and CW built-in for seamless Morse code operation.
The auto-tuner, a standout feature of the IC-703, automatically adjusts the impedance of your antenna to match the transceiver, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) issues. This feature is particularly beneficial for those who may not have a perfectly matched antenna or for those who are new to HF operation.
The DSP technology within the IC-703 provides enhanced audio quality, noise reduction, and selectivity. It also includes a built-in digital filter, which reduces unwanted interference and improves signal clarity. The CW built-in feature allows for easy Morse code operation, making it an ideal choice for CW enthusiasts.
The IC-703 is compact and lightweight, making it an excellent choice for portable operations. Its robust construction ensures durability and reliability, making it a great investment for both new and experienced HF operators. Whether you're a DXer, contest enthusiast, or simply enjoy communicating with fellow hams, the Icom IC-703 is a versatile and powerful tool for your HF adventures.
Pros of buying a IC-703 auto-tuner HF Icom 10W DSP CW built-in:1. Compact and portable: The IC-703 is a lightweight and compact transceiver, making it easy to carry around and set up in various locations.
2. Auto-tuner: The built-in auto-tuner simplifies antenna tuning, reducing the need for manual adjustments and saving time.
3. 10W output power: The IC-703 provides 10W of output power, which is sufficient for most amateur radio applications.
4. DSP (Digital Signal Processing): DSP technology improves signal quality, reduces noise, and enhances reception, making it easier to listen to weak signals.
5. CW (Morse code) built-in: The IC-703 includes a built-in CW (Morse code) keyer, which is useful for sending Morse code messages.
Cons of buying a IC-703 auto-tuner HF Icom 10W DSP CW built-in:1. Limited power output: The 10W output power may be insufficient for some long-distance communication or DXing (long-distance amateur radio communication).
2. Limited filter options: The IC-703 has a limited number of filter options, which may limit its ability to filter out unwanted signals.
3. Price: The IC-703 is not the cheapest HF transceiver on the market, and its price may be a limiting factor for some amateur radio operators.
4. User interface: Some users may find the user interface of the IC-703 to be less intuitive than other transceivers.
Conclusion:The IC-703 is a great option for amateur radio operators who prioritize compactness, portability, and auto-tuning features. Its built-in DSP technology and CW keyer are also useful features. However, its limited output power and filter options may be a drawback for some users. Ultimately, the decision to buy the IC-703 depends on your specific needs and budget.
Recommendation:If you are a beginner or an amateur radio operator who values portability and auto-tuning features, the IC-703 is a great option. If you require more power or filter options, you may want to consider other transceivers on the market. I recommend researching different transceivers and reading reviews from other users to make an informed decision.
Includes the original box, radio with cw filter, dsp and built in auto tuner, manual, carrying handle, case, mic, computer interface cable, hail headset foot pedal adaptor will work with other headsets too, and remote head cable. Kept in a non smoking environment. This has been a fun radio. The mic is a snug fit and does not fall out.
The radio works great and is in very good condition. The radio power cable is fitted with power pole connectors. The radio and box shows 6m, but this was a mistake by Icom.
As with all electronics, I offset no warranty. This model does not include 6m. Radio has built in keyed with memories. The mic uses a standard rj45 plug, but the tab has broken off.
