This item does light up. It does transmit I do not know how well or if the power output is correct receive but built in speaker work.
These units have an internal battery for the CPU that will shut down if not powered up regularly. The BP-130 battery pack does not come with radio. The only battery pack it comes with is a BP-157 that does not take charge. It does not come with a charging unit.
The power button needs to be pressed hard for unit come on I don't know why. You can hook up the speaker mic included to hear. It did light up when I transmitted from another radio.
This resets the radio. If you purchase it and doesn't come on take the battery off, hold f button power at same time as put into place.
