Not sure what the local input does but I suspect it allows you to measure signals above and below tuning dial ranges. I do not have a manual. While adjusting the controls I was able to monitor deviation from my icon 2 meter transceiver using a short whip antenna at direct input.

As you can see physical condition is excellent. The controls need a treatment of contact cleaner.

Selling this unit as-is. I was able to monitor measure am and fm modulation from my ham transceiver set the 10 meter band using front transmitter input output jacks with about 25 watts of carrier reach cal point on. This Sigma AF-250L am fm analyzer needs minor servicing. Someone before me put the labels. On meter face.
