Details:

This is untested and sold strictly as. Condition: appears unused. Shipping: this is packed ready to go. However, the unit is designed to be operated successfully by non-Radio personnel and labeled somewhat self explanatory.

Please study the unit. According to the front of operating panel, it runs 5 watts on 500 khz when tuned maximum glow tuning light. It is too large heavy for USPS. Manuals: I have no official Mackay manual for this and never seen one.

Just a guess but if the inside is labeled as carefully outside, battery numbers ET AL are described on rear of front panel.

Packed unit is in a package 23 x 10 19 tall. Weight 50 lbs. Again, guessing here. Items released this late in service probably came from one of the ww2 us battleships when moth balled.

It was maintained until the department of commerce made vlf transmissions at 500 khz obsolete and no longer to be used by merchant marine or us navy. Price is below value. I have never been inside the unit but suspect it was made so that any competent Radio technician could repair adjust as needed.

It would best be placed in a museum but equally at home with the Radio amateur licensed to experiment on that frequency band.

It uses dc batteries not included and can be operated to send automatic signals or hand via the front panel telegraph key. Distress calls now are made via cellular phone satellite links.
