The DSS 1010SSB Linear Amplifier 180 Watts PEP is a powerful and high-quality piece of equipment for shortwave radio enthusiasts. Here are some pros and cons to consider before making a decision:
Pros:1. Powerful Output: With 180 Watts PEP, this amplifier can deliver a strong signal, ideal for long-distance communication.
2. SSB Capability: Single Sideband (SSB) mode allows for more efficient use of the radio spectrum and better audio quality.
3. Good Build Quality: DSS is known for its durable and reliable equipment, which should ensure longevity.
4. Adjustable Output: The adjustable output power feature allows for fine-tuning to suit specific needs.
Cons:1. Price: As a high-end amplifier, it may be more expensive than some other options on the market.
2. Size and Weight: Due to its power and built quality, the amplifier is relatively large and heavy, which may be a consideration for those with limited space.
3. Complex Setup: SSB mode can be more technically demanding than other modes, and setting up the amplifier may require some knowledge and patience.
In conclusion, the DSS 1010SSB Linear Amplifier 180 Watts PEP is a great choice for serious shortwave radio enthusiasts who require a powerful and high-quality SSB amplifier. However, its high price, size, and weight, as well as the potentially complex setup, may make it less suitable for casual users or those with limited resources. If you are a dedicated shortwave radio user looking for a powerful and reliable SSB amplifier, this could be a good investment. If you are new to shortwave radio or have more modest needs, you may want to consider less expensive and more compact options.
All that is being offered a single DSS linear amplifier only. Offered here is a refurbished DSS linear amplifier biased class AB. Gave the top of unit a new paint job, coating it in rust ole-um Silver/Black Hammer Tone. I went through the amplifier and checked all solder connections power points.
The unit is producing 100 watts average power and 180 PEP with a 4-to-5-watt input 18 watt swing. All Leds are working as Wells the pre-amp and SSB switch. I replaced power cables with new#10 wire and incorporated an inline fuse holder as well.
